The “MYSTERIES of GOD” in the BIBLE
We are attempting by the help of God to study the following in our Sunday Afternoon Bible Institute at Solid Rock Baptist Church. I trust they will be a blessing to our church, and through our church to the world about us. We plan to cover one mystery per week.
Please pray for us, and attend if you can. God bless.
The apostle Paul said, “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.” (1 Cor. 4:1)
OVERVIEW OF OUR BIBLE STUDY
A “mystery” in the Bible is a previously hidden truth now made known by divine revelation, yet not fully understandable. (See Dan. 12:8-10 and 1 Peter 1:9-12) The mysteries could be called the “meat” of the Word of God. (1 Cor. 3:2; Heb. 5:14)
Christians are to be “stewards” of these mysteries, and what we learn from God “in darkness” (Matt. 10:24-28; the secrets of God - Psalm 25:14; the “dark sayings” of the Lord - Prov. 1:6) we are to dispense for Him to the Church and the world by word of mouth and the printed page, through Bible preaching and teaching, and our personal witness.
To know and understand the “mysteries” is to a have well-rounded education in the things of God, and to know the plan and program of God for the ages. (See Matt. 13:9-17)
We say that the Old Testament is the New Testament concealed and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. So, in the New Testament is where we find God removing the veil for us to see what the OT saints could only wonder about. The OT truths, as understood in the light of the NT, are shown to those whose heart turns to God. (2 Cor. 3:16; Matt. 13:17)
